Description:

Mags, aka Loretta Lynn, is perhaps the most joyful, cuddle-hungry 3 yr. old dog you'll ever meet. Her thought-they-would-be-forever family of nearly 3 years is dealing with a broken heart as they've come to the realization that they can no longer keep her.

This loving and playful girl is very smart but not overly independent, so she is extremely trainable. Right now she knows sit and stay, but would easily take on more tasks if a human wanted to teach her. In her foster home, she has quickly picked up on crate training. She really doesn't need to be crated as she is fully house-trained and doesn't chew on anything but her toys.

Loretta is a 57-pound lap dog. She would be an awesome buddy for cuddling up on the couch to watch TV, especially on these cold days and nights. Just be sure to pick a comfortable position, because once she settles in, it's like she melts into you and it's hard to move her.

Loretta loves to play with other dogs, go on walks, and play fetch. Her foster home doesn't have a fenced-in yard, but she has adjusted well to a daily walk rather than yard playtime for exercise. She does need work on loose-leash walking as she likes to pull ahead on her walks.

While she is very tolerant of little people and pretty good about not jumping up, she lacks some body awareness and has a whip-like tail that may be too much for a home with kids under 4. She has also shown a bit too much interest in cats, so she is looking for a cat-free home.

In Loretta's previous home, she had a couple isolated incidents that occurred with their older, female dog. The family stressed that Loretta was not the aggressor in these situations, but cautioned against placing Loretta in a home with other female dogs. Her current foster home has a similarly-aged female with whom Loretta has been nothing but a sweetheart. Obviously, we'll want to do Meet & Greets to make sure the dogs get along and watch closely for any signs of trouble, but I think Loretta would love a doggy sister (or brother, or both!).

If you want to meet (and fall in love) with this wonderful girl, please submit an application today!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
