Description:
The first thing everyone says when they meet Yoshi is "I can't believe she hasn't found her home yet!". And we can't believe it either. She is intelligent, affectionate, and loving girl that just wants to run around outside, go for walks, or play with you. She knows how to shake, sit, sit up, down, and roll over. She's great either left alone in the house or in her crate. She sleeps on her bed, the couch, in your bed, or pretty much anywhere you'll let her! In her interactions with other dogs she has done well with the male dogs she met. She would best be suited to a male dog her size or larger. She sometimes gets excited and jumps, so may not be the best choice for a family with little children.
Yoshi is a beautiful dog that gets so much attention on our walks. We don't stop to greet too many strangers as she can be protective. Yoshi would definitely do best in a home with a fenced in yard. She does really well outside on her own and the only time we've heard her bark is when someone walks up to her when she's alone.
Here are some things we're working on: Yoshi LOVES going on long walks and her nose is to the ground constantly, so when she smells something interesting, it gets all her attention! She's strong and can pull hard and fast if she gets distracted. We're working on techniques to improve her walking but a new owner would need patience. We also don't play any aggressive games of tug with Yoshi. She'll bring you her toy and play some fetch but sometimes she'll try and get you to pull it away from her. A firm "drop it" or "let go" and she's back to chasing and fetching!" Yoshi has an Akita personality for the most part and will need an experienced, firm, confident, and consistent pack leader. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first.
