Description:

Michael who goes by Mike, is a very friendly, loving, and curious growing puppy. He and his littermates were all rescued from a life of fighting and he is looking for a loving family to call his own. Mike currently lives with his foster family of 3 and his litter brother Fredo. Fredo is Mike’s best friend and they do almost everything together. Their favorite activities are wrestling, tug of war, and chase. Although Mike is a little bigger than Fred, he sometimes gets tired of goofing around and would rather lounge in the sun or inside his crate alone. Mike loves chewing on bones and watching other people and dogs walk by the house. He is very curious but can sometimes be hesitant to approach strange dogs or people. Once he meets new people and dogs though, he warms up very fast. Mike was a slower learner than his brother at first when learning to sit, but we have recently figured out that he will do anything for a treat. He learned sit almost instantly when he found out he got treats for doing it! Mike is crate trained, almost house trained, and knows a few commands like sit, shh, and “snack”, which means come. If Mike is out in the yard playing and you yell “snacks”, he will be in the door almost instantly. Mike is a little more timid than his brother but with the proper attention and praise, he has learned to get attention without getting pushed out of the way. He has plenty of energy for long walks and playing in the yard for hours but transitions to relaxation time quickly. Mike is always looking for a cozy new spot to curl up in around the house. An ideal family for Mike would have plenty of time to continue his training in becoming a good dog as well as socializing him with other dogs to help boost his confidence. Mike is a loving companion who is eager to please and gets so excited to see you that when his tail wags it makes his whole butt wiggle (it’s absolutely adorable).

Applicants that are willing to enroll their puppy in obedience classes will receive preference.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The  petfinder.com  system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
