Description:
Meet Sage! Sage and his brother were at a rural shelter where space runs out quickly. The shelter volunteer told us he is a sweet and friendly guy who is a little bit shy so we agreed to take him. These brothers have done a complete turn around from being the scared boys when they first arrived at the shelter.

Now that he has a foster home, Sage has come right out of his shell! He loves having another dog around, he is more confident in following their actions and has learned to conquer his fear of stairs and getting in and out of the car by seeing what the other dogs do. He is still a little unsure of everything, probably has not been exposed to a lot of things but he is always happy to try things. He is crate trained, readily goes in there to nap with the door open, rides well in the car (still a little nervous), but he doesn't like being left alone. Having a buddy close by when you leave calms him down a lot.

When his foster mom first got him, he was covered in ticks (46 to be exact), very scared and dirty. But he calmly sat for over 3 hours as they removed all the ticks, got a couple baths and medication and still managed to leave with his tail wagging. He has been diagnosed with Lyme disease from the ticks, and is currently taking medication for it in the hope that it is in a phase that is treatable. If not, he will always have Lyme disease but only 30% of dogs show symptoms. Sage is such a trooper and is very happy to be finally out of a shelter and in a home.

We are working on basic obedience, boundaries and more confidence! He is such a good boy, eager to please, and loves attention. Being young he would benefit from an obedience class to further work on socialization and manners. This goofy guy is looking for his forever home, and can't wait to be a part of a permanent family :)
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
