Meet Garth.  Garth and his brother were at a rural shelter where space runs out quickly. The shelter volunteer told us he is a sweet and friendly guy who is a little bit shy so we agreed to take him.  

Since Garth arrived with ticks we had his blood tested. He tested positive for Erlicha and is being treated with meds until the latter part of June. He did test negative for Lyme’s disease.

Garth is gaining in confidence everyday. He is a sweet, shy boy and likes to be with the other dogs. Garth gains confidence from the older well-adjusted dogs on the farm where he is fostered. There is always activity there which benefits a shy dog needing to observe and do new things. He likes humans and is scared of the barn cat (smile). It is unknown how he is with kids.

While Garth is being treated he will be with his foster to keep his current routine and stress level to a minimum.

Garth would do best in a home where there is another well adjusted dog to play with, a yard, and patient parents who would like to go places and do things with both dogs.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
