Description:
Hi, I'm Wren and I'm new to Last Day Dog Rescue.  Everyone thinks I'm a Lab/Doberman mix (I look kind of like an Australian Kelpie) but nobody knows for sure... I'm definitely a mix of a few different breeds :)

I'm 1 1/2 years old and thin at only 39 lbs. (I should weigh 45-55 lbs.)  I would love to tell you the story of how I got here.
I am so happy to feel safe and loved at last!

My original family got me from a friend, so I could be a playmate for their dog...  who didn't like me :(  They decided to find me another home, and posted me on Facebook.  A new family came to get me, and all was well at first.  Then they forgot to feed me, and chained me up outside for a few months, until they got tired of hearing me crying :(  They brought me back to my original family's house and left me tied up on the front porch.  I was emaciated, and had deep sores on my body.  I was scared, sad, and so tired.

My original family tried to help me, but had to keep me separated from their dog so he wouldn't hurt me -- so I lived for close to a year in the basement.  I was very lonely, and stopped eating.  They reached out to a kind volunteer for help, and she worked really hard to find me a great rescue foster family, who I'm living with now!

I'm a very smart girl, and am blossoming with my foster family's love and attention!  I learn fast; get along well with my male foster dog sibling; snuggled up to some kittens I met; and really like all the humans I've come across!  I had a checkup at the vet, and got everything I need to feel good and strong again.  I'm spayed so I'll never have to have puppies, and once I gain some weight I'll be in excellent shape!  Foster mom says my housebreaking is going great, and I sleep well all night-- I just love living indoors where they love me!   I'm very calm in the house, as long as my family is at home -- and I love to play, nap and snuggle with them.  I'm very afraid when they leave me though, and I get really nervous waiting for them to come back -- especially after spending so much time alone in the basement at my other house :(  I'm working on crate training so I can be home alone, but would really prefer to be with a family who can be home with me a lot of the time to reassure me that I'm safe.  I love to go for car rides, and have learned to walk beautifully on a leash.  I am looking for a forever family to share my love with always, could that family be yours?

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
