Description:
Angel is a two year old long haired Chihuahua who came to us from a Michigan shelter.  The story that came with her was that she was turned in by a man who bought her off of a pick up truck from someone who was selling all of the dogs in the truck.  He kept her for a couple of months, but she was so terrified that he turned her in to the shelter.  When we took her to the vet, she had a terrible ear infection that needed ten days of medication to cure.  During this time, Angel has started to settle in to her foster home and is losing some of her fears.  Angel is house broken and crate trained.  She takes food very gently from your hand but is still having a little difficulty completely trusting.  In the last ten days, while still treating her ear infection she has gotten to the point where she follows my little troop around and wants to be close.  She will lay on the sofa at night while I am watching TV and let me pet her.  She was very good for her bath and allowed me to trim her toenails as well!.  She gets along with all of the dogs and there are 8 other dogs here from 8 pounds to 140 pounds.  Angel weighs 8 pounds and I am trying to change her over to dry dog food but she is reluctant to give up the canned food so I mix it in for her. Angel is a beautiful little girl who will make and excellent addition to a family who will give her time to adjust to them.  She really wants to play and interact with a person and other dogs, but just doesn't know how yet.  We are working on that and she is a fast learner.  She must have been very traumatized in the past as she would go rigid when you first picked her up, but even that is improving and will go away with time and patience.  In just two weeks she has come around a great deal and will continue to become more relaxed with people.  She has never shown any signs of aggression thoughout all of the treatments to her ears and though her grooming.  She is one very pretty sweetheart!!

UPDATE: Angelique has made great strides towards coming out of her shell. She is housebroken now, crate trained, gets along with other dogs and is not so afraid of them anymore.  She has even started to try and play with my female Chihuahua but has a ways to go as her confidence is not completely in place.  She will talk to you without noise when you speak to her and will bark excitedly when it is time to eat.  She is crate trained and eats in her crate, but recently started sleeping in our bed with the other three little dogs.  I do not believe she would be good with children under 12 years old, but other than that she would make a great companion for anyone who is willing to let her get her confidence up and have patience with her.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
