Description:

Hi, my name is Donovan. Do not be fooled by the white marks on my face. I am only 3-4 years old. My admirers say that I am handsome and that the white marks as well as the white patch on my chest give me character. I am very easy going and laid back and would love to live with either a family or with just a mom and dad. I’m not picky.

Let’s see……what can I tell you about myself? I spent almost 2 months in an Ohio doggy jail before I was rescued. I’m in the process of learning how to trust again. When my foster mom and dad took me in at the beginning of September, I was quite timid. I didn’t want to move around the house much and wasn't used to being able to eat twice a day and drink whenever I wanted. It took me a couple of days to figure out that my water bowl would always be full and that I could count on two meals a day. I prefer not to use a crate, but my foster mom says that's ok because I can be trusted to be left out while she and foster dad go to work. I watch them come home through the living room blinds and meet them at the door with my doggy butt wagging. I don't chew, beg for human food or climb on the furniture (unless you want me to), which I hear is a huge plus. I don't know how to play with balls or toys. I'm still trying to figure out if I'd even be interested. Maybe later after I’m done adjusting to all the new things going on around me. I haven't been officially trained, but my foster mom says that any training would be minimal. I need to learn to sit, down, stay and heel. It's not going to take me long to catch on. We’ve already started practicing how to sit during our walks. I LOVE WALKS. Sometimes my foster dad takes me for a run. I’m already starting to notice that my waistline is toning up, because I’m getting much more exercise than I did before being fostered. I like being where my people are, whether it's inside or outside. I like people. I haven’t been around small kids much, but don’t have a problem with them. Teenagers and adults tend to catch my eye when I’m out for my daily stroll. I’m not comfortable going outside on my own yet, especially when it gets dark. My foster mom told me not to worry. When I am finally comfortable in my environment, I’m sure I will feel more secure that my family is not going to abandon me.

Do you think I might be a great fit for you? Let’s give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
