Description:
Update 8/13/2013 -- Great news, the results are in--the masses are benign thankfully.  Dusty is getting stronger each day and showing more interest in his surroundings.  He goes outside several times daily for pottying and short strolls around the yard.  He absolutely loves chicken and is eating well.  Sutures will be removed soon and hope to have a professional grooming so this little guy will look his best for his public viewing.

Dusty is an older Shih Tzu that was picked up along a rural road and taken to the shelter, but no one ever came to claim him.  He is currently getting some much needed TLC and medical attention.  He has the biggest eyes, but unfortunately is blind.  At his recent medical appointment, Dusty was neutered, had a dental cleaning with several extractions, had two growths removed, and an umbilical hernia repaired.  His fur was so badly matted he had to be shaved so his current photos are not the most flattering.  Dusty's white blood cell count is high and we are waiting on results from the biopsy of the growths that were removed.  He is on an antibiotic at this time to fight the infection.  Dusty is in rather frail condition right now as the result of the surgery, but each day seems a little more spunky.  More information and new photos will be posted soon.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
