Description:
Hi, my name is Copper!  I love everyone I meet!  Sometimes a little too enthusiastically, but my foster mom says we are working on that and I am a smart boy so I am learning.

Let’s see……what can I tell you about myself? I spent almost 4 weeks in a Michigan doggy jail before I was rescued. People would come to see me but because I was only 'out' for those brief times, my excitement was misunderstood. When my foster mom and dad took me in at the end of September, I fit into the household pretty easy. It helped that there were other dogs there to show me what was expected.  I am fine with the dogs that live in the house. The cats and I do ok though I do chase them a bit if they run. I know when its meal time and meet mom in the kitchen.  I found it tough in the begining to follow the rule of sitting until released for meals.  I am getting better but still don't trust there will always be food for everyone.  My foster mom says this will just take time and gentle correction.

I will walk into my crate when told, I have the run of the house at night but I can not be trusted to be left out while she and foster dad go to work. I am always so happy to see them in the evening.   Once I get a little energy out and food in my belly, I love to cuddle.  I don't seem know how to play with balls or toys as I won't play tug with my foster pals. BUT I found a toy newspaper and if you throw it, I will bring it back for hours!  I haven't had a lot of training, but my foster mom says that any training would be successful with a little time and consistency as I am a smart boy.  I know sit and go!  I am decent on a leash.  We're working on stay and I need to learn lay down and wait. It's not going to take me long to catch on. We’ve already started practicing how to sit during our walks. I LOVE WALKS. I like being where my people are, whether it's inside or outside. I like people. I haven’t been around small kids much, but my foster mom thinks I might not be best for them since I am still prone to jumping  and a little mouthy (soft).

Do you think I might be a great fit for you? I'd love to meet you!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
