Description:

Hi! My name is Mr. Max. I am a pure breed Golden Retriever who is approx one and a half years old. I am good with other dogs, but I haven’t been around cats yet so we are not sure how I would react. I was with a family who adopted me from a Breeder from the time I was 8 weeks old. My family life was very chaotic, with everyone telling me what to do at the same time. My two children (12 & 14) and Dad loved me. But my Mom didn’t want me, so she hit me with the broom and kicked me. Due to this, I have a few issues and need to learn how to trust humans again.

Mr. Max is very anxious and timid when meeting new people. He wouldn't even come out of his kennel at first! Mr. Max will show his teeth when people get too close to him and he is uncomfortable. Due to this, he would do best in a home with no small children. Mr. Max will need socialization and basic obedience training. Mr. Max will need a patient adopter who is willing to go slow and help him overcome his issues. He is a really good boy and just needs to be taught that humans are okay. He knows some basic commands and is housebroken. Mr. Max is a big, strong Golden- so he will need an owner who can handle him. Mr. Max's ideal family is one who will give him all the time he needs to adjust to his new home. Fill out an application to meet Mr. Max today!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do o ur best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
