Description:

Ivy and her daughter Fern were left behind after their owner took his own life. Neighbors were caring for the pair for a week after calling animal control who would not get involved unless they were loose. They told the animal control that they planned to let them lose in a  few days. Before that could happen several animal advocates reached out to rescues and we agreed to take them in. Ivy and Fern have lived together since Fern was born 2 and 1/2 years ago. They were rescued together, held in boarding together and now waiting for forever home together.   

Ivy is a beagle, happy, friendly, sweet, and has been well feed in her lifetime. This little mama needs a new diet and some exercise. She does mouth which we are working on. She may have some separation anxiety and will whine when you leave, which is why she would not do well in an apartment. It seems as though her previous owner put a no-bark collar on her and now her vocal cords have some damage. Her whine is a faint whisper.

Ivy's daughter Fern is only slightly over weight and looks to be a JR mixed with beagle. She has short little legs and is so adorable..and friendly! You just want to scoop her and love her up! Both have been spayed and once they got to us we say that their teeth were cared for and up to date on vaccines. We know it will take an extra special person to adopt these two together but with all they have lived through we would like to try to keep them together. They are both super sweet and love to cuddle, but they do still need a little work. Please consider both when looking at one. They can be adopted separately although Ivy would need to be in a home with another dog. A bonded pair is a wonderful thing to see and add to your family!

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting.
