Description:

Sniffers is a handsome boy who just loves to lay at your feet and be scratched. He likes to be by your side and if you would just scratch him or rub his belly for a few hours he would be very content. He tends to bond to one person. He wants to be as close as possible to his person and is a bit of a velco dog. He would love if you would scratch him for a few years! He has the sweetest eyes that can just beg. He is not a big barker. He loves to go for walks and play retrieve. He does have a hound nose so will go over a fence to investigate. A privacy fence or in invisible fence would be ideal. He walks well on a lead, well except when he has a squirrel in sight. He doesn't pay much attention to my cats or my dogs for that matter. Sniffers lives to be petted by the kids when we take a walk but would be best with older children. He would also be best with a non dominant dog or an only dog.  He is not very interested in playing with fellow foster dogs and guards toys, bones and food. So would be best with older children. If you are looking for a low to medium active dog that just loves to hang out with you and keep your feet warm and a pal to stay close by your side Sniffers may be your dog!

Sniffers was Heartworm  positive and was treated in the summer. He is now a healthy boy and HW negative but will need to be maintained on a monthly HW preventative. He has a displaced L hip joint which is scheduled for repair but then he will be as good as new.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
