Description:
If your ideal dog is one that is huge and hairy and is going to drool all over while leaving elephant sized poops in your yard then we might suggest NOT considering Miss Minnie Mouse. However, if your ideal dog is one that is as cute as she is portable, as cuddly as she is friendly and as peppy as she is adventurous then our girl just might fit exactly what you are looking for.
Please do not be fooled by her initial shy approach; this little two-to-three-year-old girl loves nothing more then to cuddle by your side or to trot along at your heels while out and about. She loves long walks to just about anywhere; rides beautifully in the car (preferably by your side) and will chase a stick at the park or go swimming in the lake right alongside the most sporting lab you can find.
Spend five minutes talking to her softly and Minnie will come over and sit right by your side. Spend ten minutes and she'll be rolling on the floor, offering her belly for a nice tummy rub. Spend a half hour or more with her and you're really going to wonder where all that time went!
Petite and laid back while still being chock full of spunk and personality- a dog that's as portable as she is excited about going places- Minnie is much more then your average 'chihuahua-type canine'. She gets along very well with just about every friendly dog she's ever met and regularly enjoys playing with those cats and kittens that will be up for her while she quickly learns not to bother those that aren't. She enjoys gentle children very much and will happily retrieve sticks and play with toys with them for hours on end . . . or just cuddle in their laps or by their side while they sleep.
Minnie also has very nice house manners and while she'll be more then happy to join you in your meals, she also will not be totally crushed if you choose to ignore her instead of sharing. She is completely housebroken, and will let you know when she needs to go out by sitting by the appropriate door. If you ask her if that's what she is waiting for, her answer is to reward your correct response with enthusiastic dancing and twirls.
Minnie will revel in sharing your bed at night, but will also sleep quite happily in comfy crate nearby. And, while she can have a 'big dog bark' at times, she will easily quiet down with a word or gesture when you require her to.
And, while the larger canines may have quite a bit on her when it comes to size and brute force, no one is going to touch this little girl if a sweet personality wrapped up in a package that is just-the-right-size-for-fun and a HUGE capacity to love and bond with your family are the most important items on your list.
In short, Minnie is a beautiful little lady who is so very much hoping for just that right family to find her and bring her home to the place she was meant to be.
Please note: We have recently discovered that Miss Minnie is one of our heartworm positive 'kids'. Happily, though, she is doing very well and remains very active and content. Our vets have told us that, due to her young age, we have every reason to believe that she will make a full recovery after treatment with little-to-no residual effects. Please know that you are more then welcome to come by and meet this very lovely little dog at any time.
And, should you feel as though she would fit well into your family, our rescue will be more then happy to continue to cover both the cost of her heartworm treatment and, potentially, her spay surgery that she will need shortly afterwards.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home.
