Description:
River is small Lab mix dog with a beautiful brown coat, He has a white patch of fur on his chest and on the tips of his feet. He only weighs 30 pounds and is approximately 3-6 years old. He was found as a stray dog and placed in a high kill shelter. He was there for awhile waiting patiently for someone to claim him as their pet. On his very last day to live, a foster home was found for him. Although River's past is unknown, it seems that he was not well cared for. During his vet check-up, he was found to still have 2-3 baby teeth which were abscessed, as well as both hookworm and ticks. River has since received a full dentistry, his teeth are now sparkling white. He has been treated for the Hook worm and the ticks, so he is free of both. River has also been neutered. Despite everything he has endured in the past, River is a fantastic dog. He is very gentle and patient. He has been in his foster home for just over a week and is beginning to open up more and more. River is a shy but friendly dog. He loves being in his kennel even with its door kept open. River acts fine around dogs and mostly ignores the two cats that he lives with. River loves people, he is content to be at your side always. He likes to gently rest his chin on your knees, or place his chin on your shoulder if you are sitting on the floor with him. He is great on walks, he
doesn't
pull on the leash and he comes when he is called. River truly lives up to the title of "Man's Best Friend".
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.
