Description:
Mister Rio is truly as good as they come. He is a 5 1/2 year old pure bred GSP owner surrender that had been with the same family his entire life. Recently with the downturn in the economy and their mother's illness in the family, both Mister Rio and his mate, Shania had to be given up to a rescue or perhaps end up in a shelter. Mister Rio loves to play fetch in the yard and will bring the ball right to you. He hasn’t tried to jump over the 5 ft fence yet but he is curious of the game in the area and if given the opportunity and left outside alone he would probably get curious and find a way over and out , an invisible fence is also an option ($150 at TSC) ! He is great on a leash, would enjoy an obedience class, is good with a couple commands like outside, inside, etc. Mister Rio is 100% crate trained, rides well in the car, is non-aggressive, dog friendly, and house trained. GSP’s were bred to hunt, are very smart, and are terrific family dogs when given the appropriate amount of daily exercise. They do need open area to run free or at least daily access to a dog park and or state land so they can exert themselves! If you have had a GSP before or have done your research and are ready to take on this forever commitment then please fill out an application and we can set up a meet in greet after we complete your home visit.
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The
petfinder.com
system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
