Description:

Update 4/17/2012   Tests have revealed that Spink does indeed have Cushings Disease; the adrenal gland type.  Her condition is well advanced and her life expectancy is only several months.  Spink is not available for adoption, but will remain with her foster family for the remainder of her life.  This sweet girl is a joy to care for.  She is gentle, quiet, passive, obedient, knows commands and tricks, is inquisitive, loves everyone, and except for her sickness, is the perfect dog.  Although Spink is not available for adoption, we welcome monetary donations to offset the cost of her care and the care of the many other wonderful animals in our rescue.  To make a donation in Spink's name click on the PAY PAL logo.

Update 3/17/2012        Sweet Spink looks so sad in her photos.  She so wants a family to love her and help her feel better.  It is believed that Spink may have Cushings Disease. She is going in for full testing so we will know very soon if she does.  Cushings Disease is not curable; however, with the proper medication Spink could live the rest of her life comfortably. Spink is very mellow. She resides with four other senior dogs and just hangs out with them.  She enjoys going outside to sniff the air with all the wonderful Spring scents, but then likes to come back in to relax.  Spink is housebrained, but drinks lots of water [believed to be due to the Cushings Disease] so may need to go out for potty more frequently. Spink was someone's beloved pet at one time, as she knows sit, come, down, out, up, go, and will raise a paw to shake for a treat.  She also walks very nicely on a leash. She hasn't made a peep since being in her foster home. Spink is an older girl who just wants a home and family to call her own.  Could that be you?

Spink joined LDDR in February 2012 when one of our fosters found her as a stray. She is a sweet senior boxer. She's in a home with multiple dogs of all sizes and breeds, and appears to be doing well with them. The family who found her initially thought she was a missing dog they saw in the paper known as "Spink."

She's a very sweet girl and very easygoing! She would be great for a less chaotic household who wants an older girl to spoil and cuddle. She is quiet and calm. She's also WONDERFUL on a leash!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
