Description:

Churchill was picked up as a stray, however he knows many commands and acts like he was once a well loved companion. He is a seasoned dog that has learned the pleasure of a warm place to sleep and the joy of his favorite people coming home to him. Gives his belly to any person he feels might rub it for him. A sweet silly dog that will steal your heart and make you smile!

Here is a note from his temporary foster in Ohio:
Churchill is an amazing dog.  We called him "Big Dog", and he responded to that.  Wherever he came from, he knows most commands. When I got him he was super happy to be here.  I'm not sure how good he is with other dogs.  I think he would do just fine though, because he was in a kennel with 5 other dogs around him, and there was never a problem. Churchill absolutely adored my 6 year old daughter.  He followed her everywhere she went.  I have pictures of my daughter laying on him.  He was very patient and kind to her. He loves car rides, couches, and blankets.  He spent most of the time laying on a blanket in front of our fireplace when he was in the living room with us.
He was always super excited to see us when we came through the door.  He "danced" when he saw us.  He always listened to every command I gave him.  I rarely walked him on a leash while he was here.  He always stayed right by my side when we went out to the yard.  If he got ahead of me, or strayed to far away outside, as soon as I called his name, he was right back at my side.

Churchill  is extremely kind, gentle, and loving.  He just wants to have someone pet him.  He thinks he is 70lb lap dog.  In the car, he sat patiently and quietly, looking out the window, until we got to where we were going.  Then, he would wait until I opened the car door to get out.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
