Description:

Smokey is a ball of love.  He adores kids as well as dogs. His foster parents have two little kids that are 2 & 3 and he sits in front of them and waits patiently for his treat. He was at Genesee County Animal Control for 3 long months. The volunteers that run the Face Book Page thought he was adopted, when he wasn't. He was waiting patiently as many dogs came and went. It didn't dampen his spirits, he kept chugging along. He was rescued on his last day.
 
Smokey's foster parents have two canine dogs (2 basset hounds) who he just adores, he follows them around and let's them take the lead in the house. He is NOT dominant and loves humans as well as other dogs. He is so gentle and does not bark a lot. He only barks to alert us, when strangers come around. He does not have the typical beagle bark, either; it is a very cute sounding bark. Smokey, has the most enchanting blue eyes. HIs right eye has a touch of brown on the bottom of his iris.
 
His first night home we put him in the kennel to sleep in our room, he was whining (take in mind he has been in a kennel for the past 3 months of his life) and I let him out, he hoped right on the bed and slept all night long. He didn't move a bit. He is potty trained, and has not had one accident in the house.
 
I brushed his teeth when he got here and he loved it.. he kept rolling around and loved it.. He was so gentle when I clipped his nails and cleaned his ears. He didn't try to nip or move. He jus laid there, very docile.
 
His coloring is very unique, it almost looks like a blue tick coonhound. He is white with freckles of brown and black. He is not a fence jumper or a howler and is not food aggressive.
 
I am not sure how he is with cats.
 

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.
