UPDATE: 1/29/12

Hondo is a beautiful Shepherd mix. He's approx 18 months old and weighs 60 lbs. Hondo has a truly wonderful disposition and gets along with everyone! He's fantastic with children of all ages and is great with all other dogs and is even good with cats. Hondo is always wagging his tail and is happy to do anything you want to do. He's completely housebroken, crate trained, loves car rides, great for the vet, plays fetch and knows sit, down, stay and shake. He does have some energy so does need some play time each day but most of the time can be found laying down near his foster mom if nothing else is going on. He only barks when he's playing with the other dogs and for a few minutes when you crate him and leave. He doesn't bark at people walking by and has never even barked when someone knocked at the door so he's not a very good guard dog! He's great about only chewing toys and is left free at night with no problems. He loves to cuddle and seems to think he's a lap dog though! Since Hondo has been returned twice through no fault of his own by families that were not ready for a dog we are requiring he go to a home with a fenced in yard with other dog(s) for him to play with to avoid him having his heart broke yet again! We've had Hondo since October 2010 and he has been a joy to have around. He's never been agressive with anyone-humans or animals- and is always at the bottom of the pack with the other dogs. Our 3 yr old has jumped on him while he's sleeping, pulled his tail and rode him like a horse and he never bats an eye at him. He's a very happy, healthy young boy that deserves a loving family to call his own. If you are interested in adopting Hondo please fill out an application or contact his foster Angie at moparangie@comcast.net and she will gladly answer any questions you have about him!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
