Description:

Pixie joined LDDR in August 2011!

8/15/2011: Pixie came to us from a shelter in West Virginia where she had been abandoned. At that time she only weighed 5 pounds. Now she is healthy at 13 pounds. She is housetrained and crate trained.  She does very well with dogs and cats also. Nice cuddle bug too!

10/18/2011: Pixie loves to play with the dogs in her foster home. She does great with the shepherd and the minpin, but is a bit scared of the 89-lb mastiff in the home. She would do best someplace with small or medium dogs. She likes to play with the cats as well, and is not mean towards them. She loves to run all over her foster's large backyard.

Her foster family has a 7 month old grandson, and she is so gentle with the baby, but will steal his cookies if given the chance. She is crate-trained and sleeps in her crate at night. She is fully housebroken. Her favorite pasttime is chewing a meatfilled chew bone. She also loves to play fetch, and play with squeaker toys.

She loves people that she knows, but is shy with strangers. She's not great on leash walking. We are working on it slowly, but she is being fostered by a disabled woman who is unable to take her on long walks, so she gets most of her exercise in the yard running around with the other dogs.

She's very smart and she sits pretty for treats. She's a very sweet dog.

We would recommend her for a home with a fenced-in backyard, someone that is home alot, or someone that has another dog that could keep her company if they are gone to work all day. Older kids or a baby is fine, but no little kids. She does get excited and will jump up on you so she could scratch someone by accident.

She's not great in the car and will get carsick, but that can be overcome. She loves to be sitting or lying down next to her family, touching you.

Please help Pixie find her forever home!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
