Description:

Krissy is deaf but it does not keep her from playing (loves fectch & stuffed toys) and cuddling. She is housebroke & crate trained, is great with kids, dogs, and even cats . She knows some sign language. She may startle easier since she is deaf so no children under 10 & the children in the home must have some previous dog experience. We will have more information and pictures very soon, formally Riley from the shelter in Reed City she was an owner surrender - they were moving & could not take her w/ them, 'owners' say she is a Cocker Spaniel/Am Bull Dog mix & they had her since she was young pup, she looks like a minature English Setter/Pointer mix at first but if you look at her long enough you can see the Am Bulldog/Cocker mix, but she is so small...  Regardless she is a super dog & will make an awesome companion for an active family who can be her ears!!!

Young & VERY active, I have not noticed her startle very easy but she is shy timid when meeting new people & will bark at them, on the other hand she is very receptive of other dogs & needs to learn some proper etiquette b4 she greets the wrong dog w/ her great enthusiasm!  Since she cannot hear them growl you would think she would learn to read their body language (but does not seem to have picked up on that yet), so you have to be careful during introductions that another dog does not 'correct' her too rough or bite her she needs to learn to respect & 'read' other dogs, but I do not want her hurt either...

She WILL require a completely fenced in yard, she does know some hand signals but she is so young & active it's hard to get her to focus, she will start a basic obedience class this week 3/23/11, & her new owner MUST enroll her in another basic &/or intermediate class &/or have experience w/ deaf dogs - No Exceptions!!!  Another well ajusted/trained dog in the home may be helpful as well...

She will be micro chipped ASAP as well & the new adopter must have a collar & tag w/ their name, address, phone #'s at the time of adoption...

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
