Description:
Angel was left in a high kill shelter by a family whose mother went to an assisted living facility after falling. How sad for both her and her little dog who had been with her so long. Angel, a 14-year-old JRT, is quite active for her age, has a delightful personality, and very big appetite. She is inquisitive, alert, and has beautiful blue eyes that melt your heart. A blood test revealed that Angel may have leukemia. Only a very expensive bone marrow test will confirm this. Her other known age-related conditions are arthritis causing her to walk with a slight limp, some loss of peripheral vision [she can see straight ahead very well], and a grade 2 heart murmur. She has a little tumor on her bum, which does not seem to bother her and which the vet believes is benign. When she first came into foster care, she had a complete exam, updated shots, a dental and some extractions. Angel has a lot of medical history since she had a single owner for many years. Angel loves her ‘person’ and wants to be with you all the time, but as long as you are in sight is content to lie in a chair or on the floor. Angel likes to sleep with her body resting against your leg or her head on your foot. She has silly behaviors that make you laugh, like licking your fingers and toes. The foster mother says Angel’s only fault is that she has separation anxiety. Angel is friendly with people and animals. She resides with several other dogs and seems to enjoy their company. The foster mother believes having the other dogs in the home alleviates some of her separation anxiety. Angel likes going for walks and car rides, although she can sometimes be restless in the car. Angel is housebroken and will signal when she needs to potty. However, she cannot hold it for hours on end and generally needs to go potty about every 5 hours. Angel would do best in an all-adult home, or family with older children, and where one family member is home more than not. If you have any questions about Angel or want to meet her, please email her foster mom, JJ Gallagher, at j-jarrett@att.net . Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first.
