Description:
Boomer is a young male fully vetted and neutered. He ended up at a shelter in Ohio as a stray and had been attacked by a dog previously and had an infection in his leg. Once it was cleared up, the shelter staff loved him as he was very friendly to everyone, but was not good with dogs because of his previous experience. Boomer went to Walter Doran's Canine College for three weeks where he was socialized with other dogs to help him over come his fears. He also learned to heal, sit, sit stay, down, down stay, and come. Since he is young, he will need to continue his practice on these commands to perfect them with his new family. He is in my home with 6 other dogs of various sizes and is learning how to socialize with them in a home setting. Boomer is a wonderful dog and wants to please you as much as he can. For this reason, he learns quickly!! He is currently learning crate training. He loves riding in a car and does not appear to be to focused on cats as he has ridden with crated cats in the car, and just looked at them, but did not attempt to get to them. He remained in a sit stay position while a cat walked through the room he was in and Boomer never broke his sit stay to go after the cat. He did cry when the cat left the room but I think it was because he wanted to meet it and play with it, not hurt it. Boomer is still learning to play nicely with other dogs but is progressing very well with this. He can get over a 4 foot fence, so a six foot fence would be recommended or a privacy fence. Boomer loves toys and will fetch once he knows you. He has no food aggression and will even give up his toys when asked. Boomer will be a perfect companion when he finds the right home. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Boomer-ADOPTED-5.17.11 (click to see larger version):
