UPDATE: I am happy to report I am back to my roots in Michigan!  I'm in a new foster home with just one other dog and loving every minute of it. I like to play with the other dog that I live with but I don't think I'd mind being an only dog either. I'm just happy to have a warm bed and food everyday! My foster mom just raves about what a good boy I am. She says I'm smart too- I guess that because I know how to sit, am house trained and crate trained. My favorite things to do are snuggling, being pet and eating! I love people and can't wait to meet my forever family!

Mason’s Story: I found myself as a stray at the Gratiot County Animal Shelter in mid December.  I was saved from being sold to a medical research company right before Christmas by some nice folks from Help Furry Friends Rescue. They took me to the vet to get checked out and the vet found three 22 gauge bullets in me. The vet took care of removing them when I was neutered and gave me a clean bill of health.  As you can see I have had a rough start in life to be only 10 months old.  Some more nice folks stepped up to transport me to Yoder IN to my new foster home. I live with eight dogs and two cats. My foster mom says I am doing great with my house training and I am working on learning my basic commands. I love to play outside and get along with all my foster siblings.  Not sure if I like cats, they don’t get to play with me.  I LOVE people and all the attention I can get, my foster mom says I am a big love sponge. I would really like to find my forever home.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The  petfinder.com  system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
