Update 4/8/11

Moira has flourished in her foster home.  She rides in the car without problem, waits her turn for her dinner, shakes hands, goes to her kennel willingly, and is house broken.  She loves the dog park where she finds a doggy friend to play chase with, and she loves to swim.  Moira promises to keep all squirrels out of your yard if you adopt her.  She is very intelligent, eager to please, a hit at the dog park, and has the sweetest spirit of any of the dogs I have fostered.  Because of her intelligence, she would be fantastic in obedience and/or agility.  Moira greets everyone outside her home in a friendly manner, but is not 100% over her fear of strangers coming in her house.  She needs a loving, experienced dog owner to work with her individually to continue the transformation of this absolutely beautiful girl.  If you are that person, please fill out an application for Moira - she is anxious to get into her forever home and continue her journey, living the good life she should have had all along!!

Moira comes to us from an upnorth rural shelter where she waited a long time for her forever home . She is mostly collie and is 3 years old. We are told she is a laid back girl with lots of personality. She is very shy and needs some extra TLC. She will make a great addition to your home

Moira has been in her foster home for a week now and is feeling more comfortable every day.  She definitely has some fear issues - she is afraid of cars and men, but with positive experience she should learn to be ok with these things - she has other fear issues she has already worked out.  Beyond the fear, she is a lovely girl.  She is housebroken and kennel trained.  She is starting to play - she likes to throw shoes in the air (silly girl!).  Since she is 3 yrs old, she's past major puppy/young dog phases, but she still needs some supervision.  She's an energetic dog that would be happiest with someone who will walk/run her, take her to the dog park to socialize and play and even go to obedience classes.  She is smart, sweet and has a strong desire to please.  Moira would also do best with an owner who has some experience with dogs and/or plans on working with a trainer to help her continue to move past her fears.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
