Description:
**I am currently very eager to find my home! So, I am involved in the Name Your Own Price Promotion, name your price today & I could be your new family member! Please see our Name Your Own Price Webpage for more info!** Rex is approximately 60 pounds, but very thin and should gain weight quickly the way he can eat! Rex loves his people, but can also be self-entertained with toys (he especially loves ones that make noises!). He loves to fetch, and will also play tug of war. He knows how to sit and lay down, although can get over-excited and not pay attention but if you have food he will do ANYTHING to try and please you! We are also working on “sitting pretty” and on his leash manners. He loves to cuddle too after he tells you how excited he is for the opportunity. Rex shows some of his excitement by trying to hold your hand or clothing, but it is in a friendly, gentle way that shows his love but may be too much for young children. He loves the kids he has seen though! He can also be very vocal when he wants love or is happy to see you, but is also excellent at letting you know when he has to go outside. He is great in a crate, and actually loves going in them to play with his toys. Rex may do best in a home with no other dogs, because he does not like to have competition. With a very submissive dog, he can be extremely bossy and will hog all the toys. With an alpha dog, he will test the hierarchy occasionally, but submit when the hierarchy is made clear. The alpha dog at our home made it clear who was boss and Rex cried like it was the end of the world! If taken to a home with other dogs, he will have to be introduced carefully. Cats are unknown. Rex is a handsome black labrador that weighs about 45 pounds right now but needs to gain about 10. He likes to be near people but he is so new we do not know alot about him yet but we will soon . Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Rex - ADOPTED 10.05.11 (click to see larger version):
