9/10 UpDate:  What a complete joy of a Beagle all the fun in a compact package, he plays nice w/ other dogs, loves adults & children & is quiet, yes no lie or exaggeration, he may howl a couple times when he is waiting for his turn at food or being let out but it is so cute!, he never howls at night - just sleeps, if you ever wanted a cute cuddly beagle but thought they were loud & stinky you haven't met Skimpy!!! He even comes when you call his name!  Don't believe me?  Well then you should just meet him for yourself, he is ready & waiting!
~4-5yr old PureBred Tri-Color Beagle

Kids? GOOD...

Jumper? No, but sometimes he will try to put his paws on you, because he is short I think & wants to be taller!
Crate? Clean & Quiet in his crate
Fence jumper? No
Aggressive? Not at all very laid back dog.
Fears? None that I know of
Barking? No, & does not seem to want to bay or howl either.
Does that cover the majors? :)  he was found as a stray, running across a busy intersection, I posted flyer's for him around the area, but no one responded, he was neutered 8/31/10, the vet thinks he is 4-5yrs old & has a grade 5 heart murmur - which is fairly significant - she could actually 'see' it when he was laying on the table!!!  I am requesting a quote for a Cardio wk up today from a heart specialist,  once he sees the specialist they will probably just Rx some meds, I assume, but will know more after his appt...   Poor little guy he does not cough yet but his breathing is labored. 9/29/10 Skimpy seen the Cardio Dr today & the dr's prognosis for Skimpy is very good, he has been put on some very inexpensive med (~$13 for 3months) & should be expected to live a 'normal' life for another ~5yrs +/-, he could have some surgery but there is not guarentee that this would prolong his lifer or quality of life & since this is a congenital problem he has been dealing w/ for at least 4yrs he should be ok to continue this way, he does have some enlargement of the right side of the heart (this is what the meds are for) but not fluid & the right side of the heart is much more forgiving then the left so I am very optimistic!  Skimpy can do all the things other dogs do just in moderation, he can also eat a normal diet.  Very nice dog!
The consensus among most say he is just another beagle & they would have kept driving... Well I have a different opinion on that, I know we did the right thing, he is a good little guy, the sweetest ever & deserves an excellent forever home.  Can it be w/ you?

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
