Description:
Maya is such a great dog. She is super sweet and extroidinarily smart. She is completely housebroken and howls and whines when she has to go out. She like to sleep in a crate but she does not like being locked up in it. She does know how to get out of a locked crate. She is a very loyal companion. She follows me where ever I go. I can walk her without a leash on my 5 acres and she stays right by my side. She does walk well on a leash also but would much rather be without it. She does have a good nose and can smell bacon a mile away. If you can't guess, that is her favorite treat! She sleeps in the doggy bed right next to my bed and wouldn't have it any other way. She will howl and whine if she can not get to her people. She loves to be around people but can be a bit hesitant at first around new ones. Once she realizes it's okay she jumps all over you, which we are working on. She is a very good mom to her puppies and likes to check up on them every now and then. She is good with cats and does not chase them at all. She is good with dogs, big and small and is very passive. She is just now starting to run around and play with the other dogs here. She is great with  kids and is protective of them too. She will not be available until her puppies are weened and she gets fixed. We are hoping it will be around the beginning of September. You can come and meet Maya and her puppies Ahsoka, Tahiri , and Boba Fett at their Manchester foster home.

Maya is still a wonderful dog. She would make a great addition to any family. She is vary calm and well behaved. She does not bark/Bay much, only when someone comes to the door or when she has to go out. She loves to be loved on and will curl right up next to you or at your feet. She is not very active and can be a bit lazy at times, but still enjoys a good walk or play in the yard. She walks very nicely on a leash. She has a great sense of smell and loves to wait in the kitchen when we are cooking to make sure the floor stays clean. She gets along great with other dogs and she does not bother with any of my 4 cats. She absolutely loves kids and the more hands on her giving her attention the better! She is now crate trained and has not tried to get out of the cage at all anymore, but she really does not need a crate. She is happy either way as long as she has a nice soft spot to lay. She is full grown and weighs approx. 60 lbs. Even though she is somewhat of a larger size dog, she would be great for all ages because she is so calm and mellow. She would probably need a yard with some type of fence (she is trained on an invisible fence now) because her strong sense of smell tends to make her wander around the yard. She likes to go for car rides and is very good in the car. Maya would make a great addition to any family, big or small, older or younger, and would be happy to be your loyal companion!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
