Description:
Ms. May is a two year old St Bernard who weighed in at 107 at her last vet visit. She may be a St Bernard mix because she is "small" for the breed.
She has been house trained and knows sit, lay down, and back-up! She could use more practice with sit and lay down. She enjoys leash walks but needs more training.
She enjoys playing with other big dogs. But she is a large dog who is not always conscious of her girth. She also believes she is the Queen and assumes alpha dog roll. She likes to tug aware, chase, and wrestle. Care should be taken if introducing her to smaller playmates. Prior owner reported she was good with small dogs, cats, and children. She has proven to be good with kids. I have not seen her interact with cats.
She is super sweet and a snuggler. Loves to lay her head in your lap, lean on you and get lots of hugs and pets. Big two handed pets! She likes to be included and would not be happy kept in a pen or away from the family.
She is very pretty. Mostly white with Brown with black trim ears and cheeks. Brown spots- on top of head, and randomly on body legs and tail.
Her ideal owner is
familiar with caring for large dogs. Research St Bernards online
Can make space to manage her messy eating and drinking habits. (or, if there is a sibling dog it may be willing to take care of the crumbs.) If she lays down while she eats her mess is minimmal but if she is standing she tends to look around and spill food and water. Cute at first but, cleaning up gets old
Willing to take her for short walks, play and pet her regularly
Ready for a snuggler. She will be by your side at all times. She'll share take half the bed if you let her. But, is good about staying down if told. (Has never tried to get on the couch) Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Ms. May-ADOPTED (click to see larger version):
