Description:

They say my name is Ajax, but I go by Alligator Jax.  I am very shy for a minute when I first meet you, but soon I’m wanting to play and test my puppy teeth on you. I love to play with & chase my foster siblings. If you already have fur babies that like to play, I would love a permanent sibling.

My favorite toys squeak and I love to chew on my Nylabones and antlers. In the morning when everyone’s getting ready for work, I like to try to steal everyone’s socks as they’re being put on. I also like shoes and slippers, so if they’re not put away, I consider them fair game.

I’m very confident and adventurous. I like to bark and talk when I play. I can get over stimulated and over tired, so until I’m able to give myself a time out, I’ll need my family to help me decide when to take a break.

I definitely need socialization. I will need positive interaction with both people and dogs. I don’t act as if I came from a litter and still need to learn my manners from other puppies my age. We are currently working on bite inhibition. When I was first rescued, I didn’t know that I couldn’t bite as hard as I wanted to. So very small children probably wouldn’t be a great fit for me right now.

I am crate trained and enjoy sleeping in my crate as long as I get a frozen Kong or bone. They say you should only expect a puppy to be able to hold his potty one hour for every month of age, so right now if you work away from home, you would need to make arrangements for someone to let me outside every 3-5 hours. I am almost potty trained but still have accidents if you miss my subtle signals.

I’ve had two sets of vaccinations and need one more. When I’m old enough, I’ll need to be neutered. I currently live in Traverse City, but may be moving downstate to the Metro Detroit area soon.

If you are interested in making me a permanent part of your family, please fill out an application and let’s get the adoption process started!!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
