"Brown-eyed girl"

Hi! I'm Stevie, a sweet & gentle girl who is on a journey to find my forever home. I was rescued by DACC and am so excited to have an opportunity to find a family that I can love. I love to be close to my human(s) but I am not a big cuddler (though I will never turn down lovings!). I have been working on building up my stamina - at first a block was tiring but today I went on a 5 mile hike and loved it!

I am house trained (though I'm not vocal when I need to go out so you have to pay attention) and I love to go on walks. I'm great on a leash though I do love to stop & smell the flowers along the way. My foster mom & I went on a short run together and I was a little confused but got the hang of it by the end! I know basic commands like sit, leave it, come & stay and I wait patiently for my food. My foster mom did not try to crate train me, but I have been very well behaved while left alone in the house for up to 6 hours!

I really love other dogs and would be happiest in a home with another dog. I am a little pushy with small dogs and they don't love that but after awhile I relax & respect their space. But a dog my size? I love to play & chase & wrestle and I listen to the other dog's cues well when they've had enough. Then I'm happy just to lay in the grass together or share a stick.

I used to be nervous around new humans but I've met so many nice friends that I don't shy away from meeting new people though I am sometimes a little nervous around men in hats or really loud voices. I am not overly hyper when meeting new people and have been complimented many times by how chill I am.

I really love to chase sticks & balls, though I still tire pretty quickly. I am not a chewer but if you leave food out I will probably find it. I am not a resource guarder and even shared a bone with a canine friend. I love to roll in the grass & splash in the pool (I might even like to swim but I haven't tried it yet). I like car rides but I can get a little impatient after awhile.

I get really anxious around yelling and a little nervous around unexpected loud noises (thunderstorms, lawn mowers as we walk past) but I try my best to be cool about it.

I have met a couple of kids and done well with them (no jumping or nervousness) but I was more interested in exploring than giving them much attention. I have not met any cats yet though I tend to ignore the outdoor cats we meet on our walks.

I would love a family that has another dog (preferably around my size) that I can play with who enjoys taking walks with me. I bet I'd like camping because I love to be outdoors and I'm not much of a barker.

I'm a sweet girl in search of her forever home. Can you help me complete my journey and make my dreams come true?

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
