Description:
Does an afternoon in the backyard, lounging in the sun and eating snacks with your best friend sound like the perfect day to you? Then we should probably hang out sometime.
My name is Riggs, and I'm nothing if not a goofball. I love to bounce, pounce, and flop around, rolling in the grass, or on the couch, or... well, anywhere, really. Once I've worn myself out, I'm a superb snuggler. I usually sleep in my crate at night (don't worry, I love my crate), but if you'll let me sleep in bed, I'll make myself comfortable right next to you. I want nothing more than your attention and affection, though treats are definitely a close second.
When my foster mom first met me at the shelter, I was so scared of everything. It took awhile for me to come out of my shell once I came home, but now I'm full of personality! Foster Mom says she's pretty sure that no one ever taught me anything in my former life, so I've had to learn how to be a house dog. I know that I have to potty outside, and I've learned to sit and wait before going through doors or getting my dinner (though occasionally I do have to try a couple times). I try to remember that I'm supposed to sit for attention instead of jumping up, and I'm learning that I can't play too rough with humans. I want nothing more than to be a good boy, but I need a forever human who will help me continue to learn.
My ideal forever human would have lots of love and patience to share with me. They would want to help me learn and be the very best dog that I can be. A home without little kids is best for me right now. I do like to chase the cat in my foster home, so if I live with a cat, it will need to be dog savvy. I'm still learning to have manners with other dogs, so any dog siblings will need to be okay with me getting a little overzealous sometimes.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.Other Pictures of Riggs - ADOPTED 5.19.17 (click to see larger version):
