Description:
My name is Birdie, and I'm nothing if not a princess.

At a compact 40 lbs, I am a petite little girl - the perfect size to crawl into your lap, which I will do anytime you sit down. I'm a couch dog, I know how to cuddle with the best of 'em. I'll totally sleep in your bed, too.

I do like to play, but I'm not exactly what one might call athletic. I absolutely love toys and can keep myself amused with them, though it's always more fun if you play with me. I'm always up for a walk, and though I'm kind of a powerhouse for my size, I have decent leash manners.

I can friendly with other dogs with slow and proper introductions, though I definitely wouldn't mind being the only child (princesses deserve all of the attention, you know). I get a little carried away with the cats in my foster home, so a home without any little animals would be best. I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with kids, but I don't mind the neighborhood kids that we pass on our walks.

My foster mom says I'm as smart as a crow. I listen very well and am working on learning some tricks.

The crate isn't my favorite thing in the world, but as long as I have something to chew on, I'm okay staying in it while my foster mom is gone. I'm very good about going potty outside. I have been known to jump baby gates in the house when my foster mom is on the other side, and she's pretty sure I could clear a standard chain link fence - a yard with a privacy fence or a long tie out may be the best option for me.

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal.

Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed.

The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label.

Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.
