Description:
Amigo is estimated to be a 6-7 month old Lab/Husky mix.  He currently weights 51 lbs and is still growing so he will be a big boy!
Amigo is a very well behaved puppy.  He does well in the car, in the bath, and doesn't chew on things he isn't supposed to.  He zig zags when walking on a leash so he sometimes nearly trips his foster mom, but he always walks close to her and never pulls very hard.  He wasn't housebroken when he came to his foster mom's house but he seems to have it down after just a few days!  His foster mom thinks he might have an accident or two getting adjusted into his new home, but in general Amigo knows to do his business outside.
He has been a very quick learner and would love a new home that will take him to obedience classes where he can learn to be an even better behaved dog and maybe teach him tricks. The only trick he knows so far is how to escape. Amigo does not like being kept in a crate or even barricaded in a portion of a room and will surprise you with how well he can escape.  This hasn't been a problem at his foster home though because he doesn't chew things up so he just gets left out of the crate.
Amigo still has a lot of puppy energy and hasn't learned yet not to jump on people.  Because of his size and energy, he may not be a good fit for toddlers because he could accidentally knock them over in his excitement.  He would be great with children that are a little older or other dogs.  He has a foster sister that is a 4.5 year old shepherd mix.  At first, he seemed confused when she tried to play with him but he has grown quite fond of her and likes to come initiate play with her now. We do not know if he would be good with cats.
Amigo is very affectionate to his foster mom and loves to give kisses, lean into her for snuggles, and get belly rubs.  Amigo will need a lot of exercise and playtime but will be sure to make his furever family very happy!
Applicants that are willing to enroll their puppy in obedience classes will receive preference.
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption.
