Hi, I am Amy!
I was left at the shelter with my puppies and all of them have been adopted so it's time for me to look for my forever home. I am still young myself at around a year old. I was found to be heartworm positive, but don't let that scare you away! The rescue and my foster mom are taking great care of me during my treatment and I will be back to perfect health in no time (it is highly treatable). I do however need to be kept calm during my recovery, so I would love to go to a home where I can have a quiet place to rest in my crate, but once I'm all better I can go back to being my playful self!
I am very short, not even up to your knees, so the perfect size for any household. I like to play with my toys (especially the stuffed squeaky ones) and when you take me for a walk my ears perk right up as I love to take everything around me in. My foster mom says that I am the best squirrel-spotter in the neighborhood! I have played some with my kitty foster brother where I used to live and would chase him but only to play as playing seems to be the thing I like to do best. I like to chase toys and I always come back to chew them while you rub my belly. I am housebroken, crate trained, and I am working on obedience training. I do know how to sit already but I sure will only do it if you have a treat that I can gently take from your hand. Car rides are also one of my new favorite things, fun activities always follow :)
I have decided that I generally like being the only girl dog, but as long as they aren't bigger than me or try to put me in my place I do well. I also don't like other dogs taking my food but with people it is no problem, my foster mom sticks her hands in my food all the time and I just happily wag my tail! I do a good job of sharing my toys with my doggy playmates though. If you're looking for a dog more puppy-like but want to skip all the potty training I am your GIRL. I love all the attention I can get and can't wait to find a family that would take me on walks, cuddle, and return all the love back that I constantly give :)
Amy is heartworm positive. She is currently receiving treatment. All costs associated with the treatment will continue even after adoption. The foster parent will be able to provide more detailed information.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting.
