Description:

Bruce is a wonderful boxer mix and was rescued from Macomb County Animal Shelter; he was soon to be euthanized and everyone loved him and they asked us to rescue him. Bruce’s foster says that he would be a wonderful addition to almost any home; he loves to lie around and be lazy at times and to cuddle. Bruce is very interested in cats; he doesn’t want to hurt them, just sniff sniff sniff. Bruce has lived with cats in the past with no problem. Bruce is a beautiful boy and he gets excited when he sees and hears other dogs and loves to play. Bruce will follow you around the house and lay his head on your lap whenever he can, he will give kisses, and he’ll definitely help keep you warm at night. Bruce is always extremely happy for you to come home! He will always be there to greet you with kisses and a wagging tail. Bruce LOVES the water! He would be great for someone who lives on water or travels often to water. He can swim and has a lot of fun in the lake. He also likes to chase water from a hose and play in a kiddie pool. We will be trying him on a boogie board soon as he tried to jump up on the kayak recently and we think he would love to ride on a watecraft if given the opportunity!

Bruce is a strong boy and listens well to not jumping. On occassion he will jump up but he only does so to give kisses. He is a very gentle, loving and kind dog.  He is very smart and learns fast. Bruce can jump a 4 foot fence and will do so in order to chase a squirrel! He currently lives with a 6 foot fence and has attempted to jump  that as well without success. He is very interested in small animals while on a walk.  He mainly walks without concern unless he sees other animals and then he pulls. Bruce enjoys stuffed animal toys and bones. He loves to chase a thrown toy. Bruce can sit and shake, he knows the words cage, outside, potty and hungry. Bruce is such a loving dog and loves to cuddle with his people, he will also sleep in a crate no problem. Bruce's current foster has had over 30 foster dogs and swears Bruce is the most loving dog she has ever had. It is shocking he has not found his forever home yet, he has so much love to give!

Bruce is allergic to food with grain, so he will need grain free food. Bruce would do well in an active home that can take him on long walks. Please open your hearts and home to Bruce, all he wants is a family of his own!

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
