Description:

Alaska is a very smart, playful, and loving dog. She loves to be near her owner, but does not get in the way. She will play alone with her own toys or she would love to engage in a game of tug of war with you. Alaska also is learning how to properly play fetch. She is the type of dog that has tons of energy and loves to run around, but then can just chill next to your feet the next minute chewing on a good bone. She will even sit and watch TV with you if a dog is on the screen! Alaska is crate trained and potty trained in the house, although she is typically put in her crate when leaving the house. Give her a Kong filled with treats and a little peanut butter and she will race you to her crate!! Alaska is not the type of dog that will destroy things in the house. You may find your socks in another room, but she does not harm them. She is learning not to jump up to greet people.

Alaska plays better with dogs her own size or larger, but is still learning the rules. She would benefit from obedience training, but needs to be in a small group. Alaska also needs to be in a house with no small children. Her high energy can be overwhelming for small children and she may knock them down. Alaska also makes a good watch dog by alerting you if someone is outside. She loves to run around freely in a fenced yard, but will quickly follow you back inside when you are ready.

If you are looking for a dog who's happy tail almost makes her whole body move when she sees you coming home, Alaska is the one. She loves to cuddle and will give you gentle kisses. Alaska still needs proper leash training, but she loves to bike ride or run with you. She would also be excellent in agility. Alaska is a quick learner to clicker training if you would like to pursue that as well. She knows basic commands and has learned to sit before going outside or receiving treats, and/or her food. Alaska shows no food aggression and will allow you to take something out of her mouth if need be. She will make you laugh and smile by her funny gestures such as hopping in a room.

Alaska will make a wonderful dog for the right home. And you will be lucky to share her love in your life!  For more information or questions, email Tim at tmb611@msn.com

Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption.  AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification.  The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted.  If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip.  Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times.  Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do o ur best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
